🌿 Breeder Profile | Chi-Shiang Tang

Hello, I’m Chi-Shiang Tang. I graduated from the Department of Sculpture at National Taiwan University of Arts in 2012 and am currently pursuing a master’s degree at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology.

When I first started gardening, I planted all kinds of flowers without much knowledge — everything was learned step by step through trial and error.

Along the way, I gradually developed a deep interest in flowers and began collecting varieties I liked. Eventually, I decided to return to my hometown and dedicate myself to this field that I truly enjoy.

The guidance and generosity of experienced growers have helped me tremendously, and taught me the importance of staying humble and always learning.

I’ve come to believe that the world of plants is vast, and what we can do is simply do our best to preserve and share their beauty.

Over the past few years, I’ve collected nearly a thousand hibiscus varieties from around the world, and have worked on breeding new lines with distinctive colors that thrive in different environments.

So far, I’ve developed over 500 selected varieties — each one is the result of careful observation and steady work over time.

I don’t see myself as an expert — just someone who loves flowers and hopes that, through a bit of effort, more people can experience the beauty of plants.

If these flowers can bring a bit of color and joy to people’s lives, that would mean the world to me.

🌸 育種者簡介｜湯棋翔

您好，我是湯棋翔，2012 年畢業於臺灣藝術大學雕塑系，目前在屏東科技大學進修碩士。

剛開始接觸園藝時，其實什麼花都種，很多事情都不懂，都是一邊摸索一邊學習。

也因為這樣，慢慢對花產生了興趣，開始蒐集自己喜歡的品種，最後決定返鄉，投入這個自己真心喜歡的行業。

在一路學習的過程中，前輩們的經驗與指導對我幫助很大，也讓我更懂得保持謙虛、持續學習。

我一直覺得，植物的世界很大，我們能做的，其實只是盡力守護與延續它的美。

這幾年來，我持續從世界各地蒐集扶桑品種，目前大約累積了上千種，也試著從中育出適合各地栽培、花色獨特的品系。

目前已有約五百多個自選育成的新品系，每一株的誕生，都是一點一滴累積的成果。

我不是什麼專家，只是喜歡花、希望透過一點努力，讓更多人有機會看見植物的美好。

如果這些花能為大家的生活帶來一點色彩，那就是我最開心的事了。
